Skin and collagen: separate appearance from biomarkers

The useful takeaway

A change in a gene or blood marker is not proof of visible wrinkle reduction.

Look closely at the endpoint

A small 2019 study in adult women examined skin gene expression and microperfusion over 14 weeks. A separate trial assessed a blood marker associated with collagen synthesis in young men. These are research findings, not before-and-after proof for the products sold here.

Do not turn a mechanism into a cosmetic promise

Gene expression, circulation measures and biomarkers can help researchers develop hypotheses. They do not automatically tell us how someone's skin looks, feels or ages. A visible-result claim needs direct evidence of that result.

Keep oral and topical use separate

A study of an oral preparation does not establish that applying resin to the face is safe or effective. Do not make a facial mask from an ingestible product unless the manufacturer has specifically designed and tested it for that use.

Be skeptical of dramatic photographs

Lighting, pose, makeup and editing can change a before-and-after comparison. Generated lifestyle images in this concept are not clinical evidence and are not presented as customer results. For a skin concern, seek advice appropriate to the condition rather than relying on a supplement gallery.
